CVE-2017-13860

TITLE

Apple iOS and macOS of Mail Drafts Component e-mail content reading vulnerability

Trust: 0.8

sources: JVNDB: JVNDB-2017-011448

DESCRIPTION

An issue was discovered in certain Apple products. iOS before 11.2 is affected. macOS before 10.13.2 is affected. The issue involves the "Mail Drafts" component. It allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read e-mail content by leveraging mishandling of S/MIME credential encryption. Apple iOS is prone to multiple security vulnerabilities. Attackers can exploit these issues to bypass security restrictions, execute arbitrary code and perform unauthorized action; this may aid in launching further attacks. Versions prior to iOS 11.2 are vulnerable. Both Apple macOS High Sierra and iOS are products of Apple Inc. in the United States. Apple macOS High Sierra is a dedicated operating system developed for Mac computers. iOS is an operating system developed for mobile devices. Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed the latest version of iTunes from https://www.apple.com/itunes/ iTunes and Software Update on the device will automatically check Apple's update server on its weekly schedule. When an update is detected, it is downloaded and the option to be installed is presented to the user when the iOS device is docked. We recommend applying the update immediately if possible. Selecting Don't Install will present the option the next time you connect your iOS device. The automatic update process may take up to a week depending on the day that iTunes or the device checks for updates. You may manually obtain the update via the Check for Updates button within iTunes, or the Software Update on your device. To check that the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad has been updated: * Navigate to Settings * Select General * Select About.
