DESCRIPTION

libarchive in Apple OS X before 10.11.1 allows attackers to write to arbitrary files via a crafted app that conducts an unspecified symlink attack. Supplementary information : CWE Vulnerability type by CWE-284: Improper Access Control ( Inappropriate access control ) Has been identified. Attackers can exploit these issues to execute arbitrary code, cause denial-of-service conditions, bypass security restrictions and perform unauthorized actions. This may aid in other attacks. libarchive is one of the multi-format archive and compression library components. A security vulnerability exists in the libarchive component of Apple OS X prior to 10.11.1 due to the program not properly validating the path of symbolic links
