DESCRIPTION

Barracuda Web Filter before 8.1.0.005, when SSL Inspection is enabled, does not verify X.509 certificates from upstream SSL servers, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof servers and obtain sensitive information via a crafted certificate. Supplementary information : CWE Vulnerability type by CWE-295: Improper Certificate Validation ( Incorrect certificate validation ) Has been identified. http://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/295.htmlMan-in-the-middle attacks (man-in-the-middle attack) May masquerade as a server through a crafted certificate and retrieve important information. Barracuda Web Filter is prone to multiple security-bypass vulnerabilities. Successfully exploiting these issues allow attackers to perform man-in-the-middle attacks or impersonate trusted servers, which will aid in further attacks. The gateway supports content filtering, advanced policies, and network threat protection
