DESCRIPTION

Heap-based buffer overflow in xar in Apple Mac OS X 10.6.x before 10.6.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted xar archive. xar is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions.
