DESCRIPTION

OpenSSL in Apple Mac OS X 10.6.x before 10.6.5 does not properly perform arithmetic, which allows remote attackers to bypass X.509 certificate authentication via an arbitrary certificate issued by a legitimate Certification Authority. Apple Mac OS X OpenSSL is prone to a security-bypass vulnerability. Successful exploit may allow attackers to potentially bypass the TLS authentication or spoof a certificate. NOTE: This issue was previously covered in BID 44778 (Apple Mac OS X Prior to 10.6.5 Multiple Security Vulnerabilities), but has been given its own record to better document it. OpenSSL is an open source SSL implementation, used to implement high-strength encryption of network communications, and is now widely used in various network applications
